In January 2023, the association was officially launched with the aim of promoting a healthy Hold’em sports culture, legal framework establishment, and improving public awareness. Following the approval of its establishment last month and the appointment of the new chairman, the association is expected to accelerate its business activities.
The newly appointed chairman, Lee Seok-yeong, is known as a pioneer in elevating Korean Hold’em culture and is the founder of the largest domestic restaurant Hold’em pub franchise, KMGM Co., Ltd. Chairman Lee has not only been active in the business of Hold’em pub franchises but has also made continuous efforts to promote advanced Hold’em (poker) culture in the United States and Europe through interactions with the government, local authorities, academia, and more.
